Volunteering
Be a volunteer and help us achieve our mission.
Whether you are a college student or a seasoned professional, MLT has a volunteer opportunity for you - one that you'll find highly rewarding as you help others realize their full potential. Among various activities, MLT volunteers provide school or career advice to our participants, assist with seminars, or serve as moderators in the MLT web community.

Career or Industry Advisor & Panelist
Volunteers will be part of a pool of advisors who are available to provide program participants with valuable insight about their industry, firm, career path, and desired attributes/skills, via the phone. Volunteers may be asked to speak on panels at Career Prep or MBA Prep programming and would receive no more than five inquiries per year from other fellows and alumni.
Volunteers assist MBA Prep Program coaches by reviewing two business school draft applications between September and December, with an estimated time requirement of 3-4 hours. At that point, two prior reviewers will already have read the drafts. Volunteers must be current business school students or graduates with strong writing/editing skills.
Resume and Cover Letter Review
Volunteers would review and provide feedback on no more than five resumes and five cover letters of a college student over the course of the year. These students would be targeting careers in your industry or in one that you have had recent experience.
Business School Mock Interviews
Volunteers conduct in-person practice interviews with aspiring MBAs and provide feedback on interviewee's composure, conviction, rationale for their interest in business school and the chosen MBA program. Volunteers would conduct no more than four interviews over the course of the year, each lasting 45-60 minutes with some of that time devoted to feedback. Volunteers must be MBA students or graduates and will likely be matched with program participants applying to their school/alma mater.
Entry-level Job or Summer Internship Mock Interviews
Volunteers conduct in-person practice interviews with college seniors seeking entry-level jobs in your industry or college juniors seeking summer internships. Volunteers provide feedback on interviewee's industry knowledge, ability to communicate clearly with composure and conviction, clarity of "story," and overall job readiness. While an MBA is not required, volunteers should have at least two years of recent experience in an industry. Mock interviews should last no longer than 90 minutes, including feedback to students. Volunteers may conduct as many mock interviews as they like.
Virtual mentors give advice via email to students who are looking for career and academic guidance. Volunteers submit personal and professional profiles that 4XL members can search on our Virtual Mentor pages. Our high school and college students can email you for advice about careers in your field, general guidance on job interview tips, tips on how to write a good resume, etc. We seek college students, young professionals, MBA students, mid-level managers, senior executives and educators. There is no time commitment assigned to this opportunity.
Professional Profile
These volunteers bring to life personal stories of minority leaders for the 4XL community. The profiles describe the individual's career paths, "day-to-day" responsibilities, and advice for high school and college students who aspire to careers in their field. Profiles are compiled from either a twenty minute interview or written questions the volunteer answers. We seek African-American, Latino, and Native American volunteers from the most senior corporate levels to two years of work experience.
