The key elements of Career Prep's curriculum are:

  • Choosing an Industry: Beginning with an orientation workshop early in the fall semester of their junior year, participants work directly with Advisors and MLT staff to identify target careers and entry-level opportunities.
  • Making an Action Plan: After students focus their career choices, MLT staff and advisors help students to develop an action plan that guides students through the next academic year. Action plans include universal steps such as industry research, resume development and mock interviewing, but also contain more specific guidance relative to course selection, volunteer work, skills development exercises, and networking and leadership opportunities.
  • Developing Skills & Strengths: MLT provides students with instruction to develop key business skills, including critical thinking, structured problem solving, quantitative analysis, research skills, oral and written communication, and teamwork.
  • Building Professional Networks: Students participate in one to two day immersions that familiarize them with our corporate and graduate business school partners. Immersions offer students the chance to meet junior- and senior- level staff from multiple departments at a particular company. MLT's corporate partners can demystify the corporate environment while exposing students to one company's distinct culture.
  • Finding Companies that Fit: MLT holds workshops and provides ongoing guidance to students in order to finalize targeted opportunities, resumes, and personal "stories." Students also receive one-on-one interview counseling.
  • Preparing for the Interview: In addition to interviews secured by the students and their school career services, MLT recommends qualified interview candidates to our corporate partners.
