I came into the MLT and the business school admissions process hoping to transition into investment banking. I took many calls with Tuck students, Fellows who came from investment banking, Fellows who were also looking to break into investment banking and hours and hours with Francine both to form a strategy about how I would interact with the banks and preparing for interviews. I was fortunate enough to receive offers from Goldman, Citi and Barclays before joining Tuck. With help from my Coach Francine, I decided to join Goldman Sachs for a summer internship.
For my summer internship, I was in the Technology, Media and Telecom group in New York. It was a great experience because I got to realize my dream of working in investment banking while also learning about an industry about which I knew very little coming in. Though I ultimately found that investment banking was not a long term fit for me, I also learned that I had a real passion for the TMT space generally and that I missed the corporate strategy and development functions in which I had worked prior to business school. Coach Francine and I had several conversations to help me highlight what I enjoyed about the space.
Armed with the knowledge of what I wanted to do, I shared my goals with the Tuck MLT family and one of them brought the opportunity with Comcast NBC to my attention. After receiving an offer, I once again checked in with Coach Francine to share the good news (and to make sure that she approved, but fortunately she did). I will be joining Comcast NBC’s Rotational Leadership Program in August.
Ultimately, I think MLT played a huge role in my recruiting experience, first providing me with the skill set to land my investment banking role and later providing the coaching I needed to identify my new passion. I am excited for what comes next and am grateful for MLT’s support.
