Welcome to Fuqua!

By Julian Gordon, MBA Prep 2013

Julian Gordon offers a welcome message to MBA Prep Fellows as they get ready to head to Fuqua this weekend for the MBA Prep Kick-Off seminar.

Welcome to Fuqua!

As one of the current Fuqua MBAA Co-Presidents, and an MLT MBA Prep Alum, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Fuqua School of Business for the MLT MBA Prep Kickoff!  My classmates and I are humbled and excited to host you this weekend. This the start of a challenging, but rewarding process for each of you. We want you to know that we are here to support you as best as we can. It’s my hope that you take the opportunity to not only connect amongst one another, as well as with your coaches but to also get to know Fuqua a bit better. To that end, I’ve compiled a list of “must do’s” as you embark on your MBA Prep journeys this weekend.

Attend Fuqua Friday: Community is and continues to be an integral part of the culture here at Fuqua. Fuqua Friday is an institution whereby students, partners, and faculty come together to catch up with one another. Fuqua Friday is one of the ways that we work to ensure that the community remains strong. For you all, this is your opportunity to get to know us in a more casual setting. I encourage you to engage with current students. We are friendly and love to talk about Fuqua. (Ask those burning questions!)

Get a random Fact: The 25 facts essay is one of my favorite essays to write. Not only did it give me an opportunity to uniquely express the things that have shaped me, it also provided me an opportunity to learn about the amazing things my classmates have done. I encourage you all to ask current students for a fact (and be prepared to share one of your own!).

Get lost! (Kind of): The halls at Fuqua are filled with the air of excitement and energy. You never know what you might hear or see. I encourage you to take a stroll down Fuqua’s halls, visit the library and check out why our facility is ranked so highly amongst business school campuses.

Each of you is taking an important step in your lives. Regardless of your motivations, I encourage you to Never stop pursuing your greatest version of “self”. The MBA application process is one that is challenging, stressful and time consuming. It is for those exact reasons that you must remain focused on the things that are most important to you. I assure you that as an MLT Fellow, you have a team supporting you, from your coaches to your cohorts. From here on out it’s all in. Know that you will find success in whatever it is that you pursue and I wish you the best of luck!

If I can be of any help in that regard, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
